Literature in English

The Literature in English curriculum develops artistic and creative learners through an in-depth look into the nuances of language and how it is conveyed.

Students develop their curiosity, compassion and empathy as they explore local and global writing through various lenses, enhancing their ability to comprehend texts and express themselves with clarity.

Students will be prepared for an increasingly complex world where skills in linguistic precision and persuasive communication are highly valued.

In the IB Diploma Programme, they can choose to offer one of the following:

Literature where students explore the nature of literature and the aesthetic function of literary language
Language and Literature where students study a wide range of texts in a variety of media
Literature and Performance where students combine literary analysis with performance

Key Programmes

Literature Afternoon and Literature Festival where students showcase their creativity through literary works studied in class
World Book Day celebrations to share the joy of reading through assembly sharing, mini competitions, and library book displays
Talks, workshops, and performances to extend students’ knowledge beyond the classroom
Participation in literature festivals, seminars, and competitions, like the National Schools Literature Festival and Gifted Education Branch’s Literature Seminar
